Engaged: Monica & Zach | University of Minnesota | Minnesota Wedding Photographer
Today we shot a rainy day photography session with Monica and Zach. We were a little worried about how things would work out because a lot of couples are apprehensive about shooting when it is rainy, cloudy, or in any other way, miserable outside. However, this is an example of why it is such a good idea. Some of our more beautiful shots have come from rainy day photography, and this is no exception. Monica and Zach went to the University of Minnesota, so they wanted to incorporate it into their engagement session, which we really liked, as it was a new engagement photography location for us. There are a ton of great areas to shoot in and around the university, so we had a lot of fun with it. Not only that, but there are a lot of other cool areas to photograph surrounding the university. We were able to quickly run over to the St. Anthony Bridge, the Mill City Ruins, and the Guthrie Theater. Because of these different locations, we were able to establish a lot of different emotions as well, which makes for a fantastic shoot and variety.
It's evident through these shots the many advantages to doing a rainy day photography session. One of the most obvious to clients versus the photographers? There are not nearly as many people running around in the public places. Check out the St. Anthony Bridge. Anyone who goes there on a semi-regular basis knows there are always a ton of people on the bridge. By a ton, I mean, enough to the point where it is nearly impossible to shoot without at least two or three people in the shot. You just have to accept it at some point. Another thing? The uniqueness of the weather is amazing. The haze lingering over the shots on the bridge are something that you don't get everyday. I will be composing an article on this topic that adds much more, but these are just a few things. Consider weather that is outside the norm for your photo shoots. You never know what you might come up with.
